How to kill Boredom in Toronto during winter
While Elsa might not be bothered by snow at all but the rest of us are extremely bothered by it and killing time in the never ending winter is a mission for most people in Canada. If you are anything like me you would want to just stay home with a mug of coffee snuggled in a blanket with a good book or a good movie most Saturday nights. However, there does come a time when you actually want to get out of the house and do something fun. As unbelievable as it may sound but Toronto actually have a lot to offer during winters. I will be discussing just 5 of those many options that I think must be tried at least once by everyone.
- Niagara falls in the winter
- Blue mountain
- Covered ice rink Greenwood Park Inc.
- Ice fest
- Polar bear swim at lake Ontario
Niagara Falls in the winter:
Niagara Falls in winter is a sight to see. The water falling amidst all the snow is just breathtakingly beautiful and is something not to be missed. The view where everything else is covered with snow except the falls is nothing less than a wonder of the world which is why I highly recommend going to the falls at least once in the winters. While maid of the mist does not work in the winter, downtown Niagara has many activities to offer. There are attractions like haunted houses, indoor maze, arcade etc. If nothing else attracts you then there’s always food to keep you occupied.
Blue Mountain:
Blue Mountain is a must place if you enjoy skiing. It’s a beautiful resort to spend a weekend. They have chair lifts and hiking treks and you can also rent skiing equipment from there. It is the biggest skiing resort in Canada and people especially come here in the winters to have an adventurous and fulfilled time. Blue Mountain also has a village with shops and eating areas which is an added attraction for the visitors.
Covered ice rink at Greenwood park Inc.
Ice skating is another winter sport that Canadians enjoy and while there are many outdoor ice rinks throughout Toronto there is one that is covered at Greenwood park Inc. It is a huge ice rink that is partially covered and partially open and people love to ice skate there.
Ice Fest:
Ice fest is something that comes to Toronto every year during winter. The festival is always full of activities for everyone like ice carving competitions and demos, lucky draws, street performers, ice sculptures etc. The festival is something that should be experienced by everyone at least one.
Polar bear swim at Lake Ontario:
Polar bear swim is an event that is held during the New Year’s time in Canada to raise money for a charitable organization. If you are daring and wants to do something nice while having fun then polar bear dip is the answer for you. Every year there are many people who take this plunge in Lake Ontario and it is a lot of fun to do if you dare.
